BSHCapture Privacy Policy

BSH InfraConsult (“we”, “us”) provides the BSHCapture iOS application (“the app”). This policy explains what data the app collects, why, and how it is used.

Who controls your data

Data the app collects

The app collects only the data you actively choose to submit. Specifically:

The app does not collect: contacts, browsing history, advertising identifiers, health data, financial data, or any background location.

How your data is used

• Submissions you create are stored on your device and synced to our backend so they can be reviewed by BSH InfraConsult staff.
• Photos and voice notes are uploaded to Firebase Cloud Storage (Google LLC).
• Submission metadata (date, GPS, user ID, file references) is stored in Firebase Cloud Firestore (Google LLC).
• A summary email containing the submission, including the photo and audio as attachments, is sent to the BSH InfraConsult recipient (currently uwe.hiller@bsh-infraconsult.com) via our email backend hosted on Vercel Inc.

Third parties that process your data on our behalf

• Google LLC (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage) — authenticates you, stores submissions. Data is held in the regions configured for the BSH InfraConsult Firebase project. See Google’s privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
• Vercel Inc. — hosts the email-delivery backend that forwards your submission to BSH InfraConsult. See Vercel’s privacy policy at https://vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

No data is sold or shared with third parties for advertising or analytics.

Retention

• Submissions and the files attached to them are retained for as long as BSH InfraConsult needs them for the project they relate to.
• Account credentials (email) are retained until you ask us to delete your account.
• You can request deletion of your account and all associated submissions at any time by emailing uwe.hiller@bsh-infraconsult.com.

Your rights

If you are in the UK, EU/EEA, or any other jurisdiction with comparable privacy law, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Have inaccurate data corrected.
• Have your data deleted (“right to be forgotten”).
• Restrict or object to certain processing.
• Receive your data in a portable format.
• Withdraw any consent you have given.
• Complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO at https://ico.org.uk).

Permissions the app requests

The app will ask for the following iOS permissions. You can grant or deny each independently in iOS Settings → BSHCapture, and the app will continue to work with reduced functionality where possible.

• Camera — to take the submission photo.
• Microphone — to record the voice note.
• Location (While Using the App) — to read GPS coordinates for the submission.

The app never accesses any of these in the background.

Security

• All network traffic between the app and our backends uses TLS (HTTPS).
• Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication; we never see your password.
• Submission storage is gated by per-user Firebase security rules so that one user cannot read another user’s submissions.

Children

BSHCapture is a professional tool for BSH InfraConsult staff and contractors. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify users in the app.
